It turns out I actually love this lamp. We have a front room with weird light switches to the effect that a) we have to walk all the way across a dark room at night to fumble for the switch to the main lamp that lights the area, and 2) there is no light to guide someone coming through the front door at night. This little lamp does both jobs. We put it on the shelf of the hat rack/hall tree next to the front door, so now when someone comes in the door it lights up, affording them safe passage to the next room, and then shuts off automatically without a thought. When we come in through the dark hall to switch on the main light, there is temporary illumination to guide the way. The shape of this lamp is cute and goes - as much as a motion sensor LED light can - with our somewhat old fashioned decor. The light itself won't blast your eyeballs but is also impressively bright for what it is. (See photo) No regrets on this purchase at all and I might even buy another one or two for other places in the house. It's an unobtrusive but really helpful little gadget.I bought to use as a night light for an area my pup used to potty in. She was elderly and would get up to potty a lot and the lamp provided a nice stream of light but not light the entire room. Put it on auto and came on every evening. It can be a little draining on batteries but I prefer the ease of changing the batteries and having more light than a simple wall plug in night light or cords to trip over. Haven’t needed it yet for an outage but I imagine it will be great for that purpose as well.In the bathroom at night it is an awesome night light. It is so bright we had to place it on the toilet tank top and when we go to the bathroom...not so bright as to blind us. LOL But we DO love it...It's be great to take it to Hotels as well...Very convenient with only batteries and they last a long time..I bought 2 of these to light up our stairway when going up and down the stairs at night. We installed an Ikea shelf on the wall of the landing and I put these on there with some decorative photo frames and small plants. They are wonderful! Absolutely does the job. Lights up for us, the kids, even for our dogs. Pretty and functional. No more fumbling around on the stairs in the middle of the night. We've had them for a few months now and they are still working perfectly. Very happy with this purchase!Nice to have in areas of the house that gets real dark at night. We use so we don’t bump into things on the way to the bathroom at night.Perfect night lamp for my hallway.I put it near my little girl's room.This lamp gives a soft warm light but bright.So it wouldn't wake her up when I check on her at night.It will turn on when I was 5 feet far away of it and turns off after about 30 seconds automatically.So far it works very well.But we'll see...This is definitely worth the money. It does exactly what we want it to do. I like a dark room, making it difficult for my husband who likes more lite. When he motions,lite comes on, stays on for a very short time, goes off.
