I wanted a very long lamp I could bolt down to a work table. I couldn't find one, really. They all have clamp-on bases like this one.So I took a chance and ordered this one. As I hoped, the base is made of aluminum. I hacksawed the base off flat, as shown in the first picture, and drilled a 3/8" hole in it and in the bench, and a 1/2" hole next to it for the cord.Works great. Mounted in the center it's long enough to reach all the tools on my 2'x4' bench. Brightness is good. All the pictures shown were taken with all the lights in the garage off except for the lamp. As other people have mentioned, the neck is very stiff, which is good, it stays where you put it.It only has one brightness level, which is fine with me but may be an issue for someone I guess.The neck ends in an aluminum post, which fits into the aluminum base. I cut most of the post off with the base. It seems very firmly attached now, but if it comes loose I'll just epoxy it back in.That's my review, I'm very happy but it's a non-standard usage. I don't understand why no one makes a bolt-on shop light like this, but if you want one this was pretty easy. Tood about 30 minutes total.
